edit: I usually even change my radio when I am going to the cottage just because of this. Without a doubt I get better battery life up there with Telus. I got bored and since nobody was calling me (basically I never touched the phone), I left my phone out for 2 days on each radio twice too see which one drained faster.

Ditto, I have solid signal almost everywhere I am (LA/OC California). The one place that is bad was at a school I was working at. Bounces constantly between EV and 1X. Poor data speeds, signal and battery life. You could noticeably see the difference between radios. Not that it made it dramatically better, but battery life almost doubled, and data was actually usable. And yes, I tried different radios numerous times (work was quite boring
