I have spent the better part of the last week searching the forums. I've come to the point I have ask questions.
I have had at least 4 PPC phone editions. I have cooked ROMs before using the PPC Kitchen. (Which is great BTW) This is my 2nd 6700. I bought it from ebay because my last one died. It is a Sprint phone and I was hoping to unlock it for use on Cellular South. The kitchen and all worked so well before that I thought it would be a no brainer.
I have successfully unlocked it using the application from XDA-Developers. I have put a new ROM on it using the PPC Kitchen software choosing Cellular South info. The ROM successfully loads onto the phone.
I called Cellular South and gave them the ESN number and they activated it. But, the last step, they say is to call *228. This call will either not complete (drops) or gives error messages.
I don't know if this is normal until the *228 step is completed, but it still says it is a Sprint PCS phone. I cannot seem to "convince" the phone that it is Cellular South.
When I pull up the PRL version in settings, it is 20224 which from what I am finding is clearly a Sprint PRL. So, obviously this could be the problem. But, I have been unable to find a copy of a Cellular South PRL to download.
I don't know if this is necessary information, but my bootloader is v.32. I updated the phone with the latest APAC file, but the bootloader remained at v.32. The kitchen still acts like it is working even with the ancient bootloader. I did wonder if I needed to download an older kitchen because of my bootloader. I used to have a previous version.
Also, I've had to choose the NOid or I get a country code error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my last ditch effort before relisting it on ebay.
