Call gets dropped mid-call because of evdo access

When I call somebody for an extended period of time, I suddenly get "signal lost", lose the call, and then I notice that the internet evdo connection becomes active (the arrows become solid). I can't exactly pinpoint what software is accessing the internet. What can I do to disable EVDO during the call?
