get a new headset. Most of the sony ones are really good. That motorola has poor sound, battery life, and as you just said only plays cellphone messages in one ear.
I tried it and knew it to be crap about an hour after charging it.
Get something else. Or accept it's limitations. The sony alternatives aren't any more expensive.
