exactly what i was wishing. i was going to even edit my post before i saw urs with that same exact feature wish.
i discovered a program called gps tuner, that allows you to calibrate google earth maps. I don't know if it will allow you to navigate like that, but it's something to look into.
I do remember seeing that the Live search on my friend's mogul allowed him to cache maps using more than 32 mb on his storage card. I don't know why mine only allows 2 max, though.
