I use my phone intensly. While I'm at work I stream audio over the internet or use the sprint tv feature. I have several email accounts that check for new email every 5 minutes. After about two or three hours of streaming and email checking my email, (bluetooth on also) the battery gets drained -- the thing is, I always have the charger plugged in while doing all of this. Go figure!!
When the battery gets warm it stops charging and when its low the phone and bluetooth, not the device, are turned off automatically.
This should not be. I had to switch to a land line because I received a call while the phone was plugged into the charger but since the battery was low, the phone cut off. I'm HOT about this. As hot as the battery.
I plan to make this a big issue with sprint or htc or somebody. The phone should work on external ac or usb regardless of what the battery is doing. Unacceptable. I love this phone but this is a basic feature that I must have.
Glad to see I'm not the only one. I am a developer so I will be looking to see if there are any settings that can make this better.

Amen brother. Most people around here will go so far out of their way to "fix" this design flaw, that they will remove the battery cover, slide open the keyboard, put a fan on it, or even use an icepack, (I know I heard that one.) Instead of putting HTC/Sprint to the fire.
I'm on my 6th phone, and they ALL do this, so I fear that there is no hope for this. Mine overheats on JUST making a phone call. The only way to fix it is to turn it off until it cools down, and plug it back in. Ridiculous.
