Just got a replacement(new) Diamond and Im stuck in roaming...

Had an issue with my screen on my diamond yesterday so I went to the sprint store and they replaced it with a brand new one. I left the store and in the parking lot I noticed the white roaming triangle in the task bar. Sat for a moment and tried going on the internet, phone said it couldnt connect, so I started to walk back to the store. Before I got to the door the triangle disappeared and the EV symbol showed up. Everything was fine for a couple of hours until I soft reset. The roaming triangle came back and is stuck there now. Cant make calls, or receive them. I called tech support and they said some towers in my area were down. Does that sound right? The girl from tech support worried me when she didnt know what a soft reset was. She asked "soft reset? why did you do that. You should never manually reset your phone." Anyway, does "the towers in my area being down" sound legit? Or does it sound more like a programing/hardware issue? I did flash the sprint touchpro radio, and updated prl just for kicks. Still stuck in roaming. Any thoughts????????
