I've done some googling of using RIT dye on plastic. It appears to be well known and common in the craft/hobbyist community. But I've seen quite a few posts warning that it will fade and/or rub off to some degree eventually. Krylon Fusion ('KF') (a spray can with a thin 'paint' that acts like a dye) is an alternative I've seen several places; and KF is designed for plastic, including the type the Diamond/Pro case is made from (PC-ABS, aka ABS-PC or ABS+PC).

I'm not yet convinced that RIT dye will work acceptably long-term on something that is handled a lot and exposed to hand moisture/oil everyday.

I posted about KF when I first got my Diamond, but too busy at work to even think about doing anything. Now finished with project and mostly off for the next 3 or 4 weeks, so will probably try to find a can and test spray on the inside of the case and see what happens.
