I know about btaudio. Didn't seem to work for my stereo BT headset. The default Microsoft BT stack on my WM6.1 ROM resulted in very choppy audio. Mostly silence. If I paused the music, waited, then clicked play, I'd get 1/2s - 1s of audio. Sometimes none.
The solution after much trial & error (including trying several registry suggestions) was to install Helmi's Universal Broadcomm Stack (Test).

Unfortunately, this stack is 7MB when installed and I don't think it uninstalls the Microsoft BT stack, which no doubt also takes ~7MB of memory.
Didn't try installing to my Storage Card, but I assume it would fail. I don't see this popular stack in any of the "pre-canned" ROMs. It would be great if I could simply use BuildOS and check a box for this BT stack and uncheck the Microsoft one. Thus, I wouldn't be using 7MB x 2 (14MB) of RAM - only 7MB. Again, just a guesstimation.
Anyone know how I would go about cooking Helmi's Universal Broadcomm Stack and not the Microsoft one using the BuildOS tool? Or do I have to cook my own custom ROM (and read up on how to do that)?
