The analogy should be "Pushing a hybrid bus with a lawnmower engine." Since there is absolutely no reason the phone should use more power, unless you are demanding a lot from the phone. For basic "phone," and PDA usage, you should not really have worse battery life than the Touch, or Diamond, or whathaveyou.
