Too many people think that because they don't use the phone the way others do the problem does not exist or they just find ways around it and bury their heads in the sand.
Item 2:
With the comment from Cappy about the diamond (which is essentially the same unit) It is obvious that it is a hardware/software design problem. At PDA.net there are only 4 devices based on the Qualcomm MSM7501A processor. (VZW TP, Sprint TP and Dia, and Touch Dual) ALL of these have the same reported Issue, Poor Battery Life and Heat Problems.
For some reason, when the radios are in use, especially for extended periods the CPU and electronics get HOT. If your usage includes just using it as a PDA, Texting, Intermittent Data usage (i.e. web browsing), and short phone calls, I doubt you will ever see these issues. I have provided data that shows the high power usage (and subsequent heat generation) is ONLY associated with the cellular radios, NOT with the PDA side of the unit.
I will be the first to admit that during the first few days of usage, I had GREAT battery life (becuase I used it as described above) But once I actually started the work week, and I began using it as I needed it for business (the same way I used my previous PDA and Phone), I was lucky to go 6 hours off the charger.
But the ultimate point is: Heat is inefficiency either caused by a hardware or software defect. This heat issue, which is the root of all of the charging and battery life issue, has to be addressed. HTC and Sprint give a full spectrum of responses from "that has not been reported" to "that is being addressed" to "that has been reported but there is no issue to address" THAT is why I have documented the power usage. It is difficult to dismiss hard data as just speculation or perception.

I agree with you, too many people are fascinated by this 'work of art' created by HTC. I just want a phone that will work as advertised, especially when I paid $299.99 for this thing. I called HTC and was told it was a Sprint issue, when I called Sprint they offered to replace the phone. This is why I really need to know if its device specific, or if it has been happening with all the Touch Pros. It's a shame that this info is so hard to get, sooner or later it will become an issue for everyone though, it's better to act now before HTC decides to bring out a new line of phones to sprint and leave us all in the dust.
