First, let me address the SSD:
- I know it isn't SSD in the Diamond, I was just saying solid-state memory, basically. I wasn't certain that it wasn't still considered solid-state, so I wasn't going to just call it flash memory.
802.11 Draft N
- You're absolutely right, carriers would never release it, but even stand-alone devices don't have N, so that is not as good of an arguement. Although, it stands perfectly well against the Touch HD, I was merely talking in general about PDA's and technology.
I actually think you are not correct in your statement about SD cards:
- The Axim has both CF and SD, and I think this is an upgrade over having just a single drive. However, with most devices coming with GPS, I don't think a second drive is needed, however I do think that the move to smaller cards was not wise. I think having a mini-sd drive/reader takes up just as much space as a full-size reader. Ok, so maybe not technically, but I just think it was a marketing move.
Also, why the move towards micro, when the speed is in the CF and SD cards? I doubt you can get the same speed, as you can get with full-size cards.
The main advantage of having a reader BTW, is only having to have your music stored, on one card, and your pictures stored on one card. Having a limit is never an option, at least not for me. You mean you think having the 4GB storage is an upgrade to a 16GB storage??

Security is the main reason why removable storage is not a very good option. However lower cost makes it to the device. How many here are having problems with corrupt cards? U move the cards in and out, the data is beiing corrupt. Internal memory will always be faster because it's almost built in the board. In time, flash or SSD's will be incorporated in these devices. But not now because it's too expensive to put it there. That is why removable cards are placed to save cost and for the consumer to afford. It is cheaper to just put a removable card in a device. And when u go on the cheaper way, It is not an upgrade. ipod's have up to 160GB and it so expensive and it is only a PMP.
and yes, The manufacturer gave U an upgrade with 4gigs of internal memory than a microSD reader inside the phone for the same price. The manufacturer will not give u the 16 giger microsd. U have to buy it urself. Add that to the cost of the phone. card reader is only 5 bucks. I doubt it that 4gigs of flash memory is 5 bucks.
Manufacturer cannot give U 16 gigs of internal memory or higher. as of yet because of the price. we might not afford it. If we can't buy it, they can't make profit.
