The problem with the post you lnked is its from '05 you should take a look at this post :
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=39925 there is alot of useful info included all thanks goes to conflipper...once you see these you will forget about the any default keyboard...
But if you would like to change your keyboards that are default the settings>personaal>input: where it says input method pick the keyboard that you like compact qwerty is what I like to use!!!
