The idea is that when you take a "GPS Photo", it tags the photo with the position. So later, you can upload your pictures to Google Earth or Flickr, and other people can see exactly where you took your picture (as well as the picture). For example, when I went out to the Columbia Icefields here in the Canadian Rockies and took some pictures there, it would show exactly where I was standing when the were taken.
