Thanks to chaffy @ PPCGeeks, I’ve managed to get a hold of a newer Sprint Diamond ROM. It looks like one of the things in store for us is INDEED working picture mail. It doesn’t seem to be restricted to the Diamond device, but it is currently not working on the Titan properly. I will do some more testing and report later.
