I don't know why they do this, but I do know several people who have been hit with some extremley high text message bills because they used this program. Switching to a normal IM program resolves this as most of them use the internet connection only.

Oz can also cause extremley annoying text messages from strange numbers to start popping up out of nowhere. Apparently its caused by shutting down OZ without signing off your buddy lists first. Its the most annoying thing in the world, and there are several ways people have reported to fix it. The most common ways are to either uninstall OZ and reinstall it, or to sign into OZ, log off all buddy lists, exit OZ, and soft reset.

Either way, I hate Oz. I much prefer Jivetalk or Palringo.
Thanks for the clarification. That makes sense, I just never noticed it since I have unlimited texting anyway.

I wish there was an IM app that didn't use as much battery life, that's the only reason I don't stay signed into them all the time.

I really miss Verichat and I wish someone would re-develop that app. I loved signing out to the texting feature since it didn't use any battery life unless you signed in to see your buddy list.

If OZ uses texting for the messages, then one really nice feature would be to have it only update your buddy list when you open the app rather than constantly doing it in the background.
