Of course you can, but that isn't the point.
The point is to get the companies to stand behind their product.
It's been said in several forums about several phones and services. Why release something that is incomplete and then remove all support from the product, especially when it takes 20 minutes of tech work to get the ROM done?
There is no real reason they can't use WM 6.1 and have working GPS. They just don't.
