The settings are a little different in WM5 and I don't remember. Do you have Start>settings>connection tab>WLAN>Power Mode tab>set slider to "best performance"? Have you deleted cookies/history in IE? When's the last time you did a hard reset?
There really is no config necessary in IE. It just takes the internet connection and runs.
