Sounds like the battery is not making good contact with the power pins on the phone.
I bought an off-brand no-name battery off ebay and it was not the same size. Was slightly smaller than OEM battery and it would not contact the power pins all the time. Thus not keeping the phone powered. Would turn off.
Learned my lesson on ebay batteries....replaced it with a brand new OEM battery and then with a Seidio 1500 and have not had the problem since.
