I do the same thing, but it's a real bugger during the winter. I bought a second one and used super mount tape to mount it on my dash. It still gets a little warm for me in the winter, but I would never call it overheating, plus it seems to get a GPS lock a touch faster (though that may just be my imagination.

Keep in mind that don't use a BT GPS, but I do have the BT radio turned on, but I usually only have a BT headset connected.
