Re: Cabs?

you "cook" a rom with a kitchen. then you "flash" your phone with a rom.

cab files are install files for windows mobile. not just the 6700.

you can download cab files. transfer them to your phone. then run the cab file. it will ask you if you want to install the program. you can install cab files on your storage card. if you have a large SD card then the number of programs you can install is limited only by the size of the card.

the ROM you are running doesnt make some programs work or not work. all the roms run windows mobile 5, 6,or 6.1. even programs made for WM 2003 will mostly work. ill say that a good 90% of all wm software out there will run on any device with any rom. as long as its windows mobile. that said , there are a few exeptions.(hardware specific, gps, video camera, hard buttons, screen orientation)

yes, you can cook a rom that is too big for your phone. if this is the case. only cook a rom with the essential programs, then install the extra software using cab files.

you can google search for 'pocket pc freeware' and will find some great programs for your phone.

i do think we should make a begginers page on this forum though. like a FAQ or glossery or somthing. anyone to start one?
