Back in my PalmOS days, the fastest custom ROMs were the cleanest because the cache (like the pagepool) was larger. You then used the program memory, not ROM, for programs, customizations, etc.
If WM61 is similar, wouldn't it be best to keep the ROM basically free from any extra stuff and just make a large customization file for each flavor (RED, schwartz, black, blue) and make the pagepool larger?

Nah Microsoft stopped that after WM2003 or 2000. It was a slider that you could use to allocate Ram and storage.
Its always best to store on storage card.
