My brother has the same Verizon xv6800 with stock radio v1.30. His radio reception is idential to my upgraded version v3.35.04. The metal bevel embedded on the front might of the unit might interfere with the radio reception if it lays close to the internal antenna. In that case, the metal casing acts like a shielding which reduces RF signal quality from sending or receiving to the device.
