Which book? There's a full User Guide PDF on the CD that comes with Touch. On page 173 (167 of 182) it gives this specification:

Card Slot - microSD™ (SD 2.0 compatible)

When you look up "SD 2.0 compatible" you find it means the Touch supports microSD (non-HC) up to 2GB, as well as microSDHC from 4GB through 32GB. You can find a very reasonably priced 8 gig at one of the stores on Amazon, now just $45.16 (plus 6.99 shipping), here:
