Lots of navigation programs have POI's (points of interest), but the results aren't nearly as complete as online services like Live Search or Google Maps. I'm not really sure what you're asking for. If you have a data plan and you're within your service area, Live Search/Google Maps will give you the best results. If you don't have data service, an offline program like TomTom/iGuidance/Copilot will give you POI's, but the results are not as complete.
One new program (also free) that you might be interested in is GPSToday. You can save POI's (Starbucks, McDonalds, whatever) and have them always show on the map around you. That way you don't have to search for places you go to all the time.

I think you basically got to what I was asking. I do have a data plan, but I was looking for a GPS software that does text-to-speech and that has the ability to search for POI's without having to save them before. Kind of how Live Search works. I will try out GPSToday and see how it works.
