I still find it hard to believe that the phone is bricked, it takes a lot of work to actually brick a phone and changing ROM's and pulling the battery I doubt is ever going to do that. I say you put it up for sale and explain the situation and I bet someone would take it off your hands and that would help offset the expense of the phone that you bought, and even if by chance something is wrong it's still good for parts unless it's just ragged out.
