They are disappearing because they are being downloaded off the server to another computer/device that is syncing. Probably your computer. Look into IMAP. Your company may not have it but I like the way it works compared to pop3. Also does your co have an exchange server?
The FLC is downloading off the server over the internet connection on the device to get all new emails that are still sitting on the server. When you get home and sync it takes all emails in outlook on computer and puts them in outlook on phone.
