The 1500 and 1730 values are in mAh, or milliamp-hours, which is a measurement of capacity. It has no effect other than how long the battery lasts.

If the Evo 4G and Evo 3D batteries were the same shape (which they are not), the only thing that would happen by putting the Evo's 1500 mAh battery in the Evo 3D would that you get pissed because of crappy battery life
