u can if u were to goto a foreign country that only has GSM service and u can use the phone there. it will not work on US GSM networks unless u purchase the SIM unlocker here. its not worth doing so in my opinion because u will not get any 3G connectivity by doing so. u posted this in the wrong section of the forum by the way.
