I remember reading somewhere that it could affect the flashing of different roms. Do you recall if you uninstalled htc sync? Just curious because I suggested to someone else having the same problem as you that maybe he should unroot, then reroot his phone. He was having an issue flashing stable roms that no one else was having a problem with so logically I figured it was his phone.

i suppose i can try to unroot and reroot it. ive had htc sync uninstalled from the start so that isnt the problem. i'll try it later tonight, thanks =)
