Angry got humbled by an iPhone

A co-worker came in with his new Thunderbolt. He had great LTE access so we were all comparing SpeedNet results. He was getting 15 Meg down and 22Meg up!!!!

I was getting 6.7 Meg Down and less than 2 Meg up (Wimax).

For grins, he turned on his wireless tether. It is free to him for 30 days. I connected to his phone and was getting less than 2 Meg up or down.

Then another guy came along and connected with his iPhone ( model 1) and he was getting 6 Meg Down and up!!! We ran a series of tests with both of us hitting the Thunderbolt at the same time and the results were similar.

I was motified.

The question posed to me was what type of WiFi connection does the EVO have. 802.11 (?). B, G, N? I tried to find the answer using System Info but coudl not find the RFC stamped anywhere. Does anyone know? Is it throttled?

Admittedly, I was running Gingerbread and that may account for the slow radio. I reflached a Sense 2.2 Rom but by then, the guy with the Thunderbolt was gone.
