So has anybody tried both and seen an actual difference?
Difference would be minimal, if any. Class 4 seems to be the sweet spot, folks with faster cards have reported issues using Android.

The higher class will net you some faster transfer speeds, when the SD card is pulled out of the phone and xferring files.

There will be little to no speed increase in Android, which is what I assume you're asking.
