Why the jump to Android? Hardware or OS

I jumped on to the Evo because of the better hardware and speed hoping with all the Android momentum it would be good on the software side for the productive stuff as well as the fun stuff.

I am seeing more and more of all the familiar names from my brief TP and TP2 flashing days of Winmo. I really liked Winmo because of it's direct ties with the PC OS. I liked the "seamless" integration with all the office stuff and the years of things that work with it like much better video player support. I just tried to cover up and ignore the lag when comparing it to friends Iphones. There's were smooth but I could actually do so much more besides novelty apps. With the 3rd party offering for home screen/launchers 6.5 for me was pretty good. It was the hardware that seemed to bog it down.

So what's everyones take on the topic? Did you jump to Android for the hardware or OS or both? I guess I gave in to my video card stance between ATI and Nvidia...whichever offers the best bang for the buck and does what I want it to do gets my pick.

Sorry mods, didn't mean to post in the wrong place.
