FYI I could be mistaken but the amp rating on ac/dc converters is not current it outputs but the max current a device can draw from that converter the same is not true for voltage.

As long as the converter has an amp rating greater than the amp draw from the device you are OK if the device draws more current than the converter you will fry the converter.

So a 2 amp converter is OK but 12v bad. Match the voltage make sure the amperage is greater than or equal to the current draw of the device.
