you can play music for hours and hours as long as you don't leave the screen on a lot. Music playback doesn't kill battery unless you're streaming something. If you switch to airplane mode, you'll get ridiculous life. There are apps for loading podcasts. Btw, i tried to see how long i could play music back without any other use (with data on) when i first got my evo... i left one song on repeat and it took forever for the battery to go down, so i just gave up.
