If i go to Settings --> Today Screen --> Items, I can either Check or Uncheck HTC Sense screen, which I like, but I would like to change the icons on that screen.

Stock Sprint Rom, the only things that are installed : ClearTemp, GroveMobil, SoftReset and RamSweep....
it would benefit you if you upgraded to a cooked rom in the cdma upgrades section, and something like cookies home tab will help you as well.
