You should be connecting with the "Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)" modem using Verizon's APN. Most likely the rom you are using does not have the proper APN setup.

Verizon's APN is "emgsm.vzw3g.com" without quotes.

You might need to create a new connection with this APN, if all you see is the regular CDMA #777 connection. You will only be able to create the connection if your phone is in GSM/UMTS mode.
