I use Fring (mobile IM client) and when it loads it presents a list of available connections, both wifi and power vision. Under my old ROM I was only presented with "Sprint PCS" and "wifi" as the available connections. Now, under 3.16, when I go into connections there is no PAM account listed, but when I load Fring it presents me with "Sprint", "Phone as Modem" and "wifi" as the available connections to utilize.
I have to wonder if the official 3.x ROM, whenever it may arrive, is going to have something in place to try and break the current tethering workaround, and if this might perhaps be a precursor. For example, maybe Sprint will bury some "hidden" PAM account settings in the registry, and add some software that first connects via the phone to validate your PAM status on your Sprint account, and then it "loads" or "unhides" the PAM settings on demand whenever you attempt to tether... dunno, but I wonder.
No matter. I'm no genius, but there are enough folks here who are that if Sprint builds a better mousetrap, someone else will find a better way to escape from it...

One thing to think about too, the RADIO is what gave us the GPS and RevA. If they do put in some way to cripple the tethering, we'll just make a custom ROM with the appropriate radio and they can punish their employees with a crippled phone instead of us
