I have owned three HTC phones before this one and have beaten them to death without issues. My son takes meticulous care of this one and it's failed twice already.

I am thinking twice now about replacing my own TP with the new evo. Seems like HTC is going down hill in quality.
Not only is this the first i've heard of any issue similar to this, but i sell this phone (a lot) and have never had a customer EVER return this or any other HTC phone due to a build quality/construction issue. NEVER. Every single time i have had to take back or repair a Hero was because the person operating it had no idea how to use it.
The hero is not only an amazing device simply for what it does, but the build quality is phenominal. I'm not sure what happened to your phone, but i CAN tell you that the fact that YOUR phone doesn't work properly does not reflect upon all Heroes, let alone the rediculous conclusion that all newer HTC phone and future HTC phones are/will be of lower quality.
