It said it was ready to accept connections, however the new connection simply did not appear to be broadcasting, both from what the phone was showing and what my computer was detecting. The activesync issue I fixed by unchecking the box that allowed for faster synchronization. Now it is correctly detecting my phone.

I'll have to check into that clock fix. What a strange behavior. There's no way that could be "by design"
