From what I know, the 2.5 contact favorites add a comment in each of your favorite contacts, which tells the contacts tab to put those favorites in your contacts. Also, Opera is made to share bookmarks with IE in the latest 2.5, so when My Phone backs up the IE favorites, the Opera ones are backed up too.
