... depends where you are, what ROM..
if it's something i'm typing simply press stylus for 1/4 second & highlight the desired text. (that tad extra hold enables you to highlight), then hold stylus on the highlighted text until pop up box & "copy".
if you're trying to copy something someone else sent you... first put it in edit mode (reply, forward..) then you'll have to click on the button that says "edit original message"
