The is CDMA reg entry is for fixing the SIM missing error not the email format one. I had that error on 1.50 too. I'm not sure how to fix it other than upgrading. Sorry if that's not the answer you wanted..

I upgraded to 2.0.0 Beta 3 and when in the texting screen my SIP wouldn't come up or even show on the taskbar. I wasn't able to send a text to test it out. Have you had the disappearing SIP issue or heard of a fix for it?

I realize this is not the forum for it, but I've searched and searched and cannot find a solution as you said. I thought that some of the ROMs that have been put out using this kitchen had Amarullz messaging incorporated into them. I figured one of them must have the solution as their ROMs work 100%. Maybe I'm mistaken and they are not running Amarullz messaging client, but using HTC's instead.
