I also used to have the $45 plan for the same reason as you. I synced with my company's exchange server and was afraid that moving to the $30 plan, I would lose that ability. I switched anyway and as far as I could tell nothing changed except my bill was $15 less. I don't normally sync email but I do as needed on occasion with no problems. I use the exchange server exclusively to sync my calendar and contacts. I never sync either of them to a PC. I hope it works for you!
