Yea, I find it cumbersome also to send for the first time. But you CAN add the sending email address to your address book as an email address (I just add "(SMS)" at the end like Gmail does). Then it will come up just like sending a new txt. I also have a bookmark in Opera to GV if I have to do it that way.
