It is a trade off for those who, like I said, can't live without the features. If you are happy and comfortable with the reduced productivity caused by the lack of a physical keyboard, more power to you. Typing with the on-screen keyboard took many times longer than it would have with the Mogul's hard keyboard; if this isn't crippling, it certainly is a quagmire to getting my work done on the phone efficiently.

TouchFLO is definitely the worst concoction of a kinetic scrolling interface ever. I know what it is, I know what it's used for, and I'm just saying it sucks at it. SPB's Smart Scrolling is much better at getting the same job done. I never said TouchFLO cripples the Touch, I merely said it sucks.

There is no real difference between the two UIs. They are both Windows Mobile 6. Much of the perceived differences are from the HTC bundled applications.

No, but it certainly reflects the target market that HTC had in mind when designing the two phones.
