Using my left hand:
I rest the base just below my index finger, place the tip of my pointer finger toward the left end of the base, curl the middle and ring fingers to hold the base, put my pinkie under the right end to keep the phone from sliding out of my hand and use my thumb to type (usually quick responses to texts).
