Just tried turning off the Mobile Network, and just tried via Wi-Fi as well, got the same results. Any other ideas?

The only thing I can really say is keep trying and eventually it will go. I don't know what causes it but I've had it happen before (even more rooting and custom roms). I was able to eventually get it working between a number of soft resets, disabling mobile network/enabling wifi, and canceling the "starting" downloads and trying again. Eventually it will go!
