Try putting the phone in bootloader mode first (hold down power + notes (top left button) while simultaneously putting the stylus in the reset port at the bottom. You'll know you did it correctly when the screen goes dark and stays that way. If you look in a strong light you should see the word Serial on the screen and a version number at the bottom--what is that number?
Anyway, once it's in bootloader mode plug it back into the PC and try to flash the carrier ROM again. Make sure you're cabled directly to a USB port with no USB hubs in between.
