Actually there are several decent reasons it doesn't work. It does work just fine on GSM devices, which is what it was designed for. We are running it on CDMA devices, so the fixes are a bit more complicated. Also, this is a beta version of Manila 2.5, so an inherent "feature" (heheh) of beta's is they're full of bugs and not a fully finished product. I'm sure when it comes out of beta we will be able to get it working just fine. Myself and BruceBanner tried for a good, long couple of 16+ hour days trying to get MMS to work in manila with the 10/25 build (a different version of manila messenger). He is on sprint and was able to receive my MMS's but not send. I am on Verizon and was able to send but not receive (through manila). Eventually our inbox got a little bit full and started causing all kinds of instability in the system. We started hating manila messenger and gave up. I haven't regretted it since.
I wish you the best of luck in your project and I know there are a ton of people that would be completely excited to be able to MMS through the shiny manila messenger. You will more than likely need to get an lua editor (I needed to edit some lua files to get the 10/25 version "working"). I would also suggest you take a look at the GSM fix that Ace has on his website to see if you can use that as a starting point. Once again, best of luck!

XDA already has a great WIKI, why would there need to be another? For this ROM there is a great FAQ already too, that has fixes for most every problem. It's all the way on page number two though. (post 18.)

I have been checking my charges daily and haven't had any issue. I'm on Verizon though, it seems to vary depending on what network you're one.
